HYGIENE: An Important Part of Ones Daily Living

Hygiene simply means the steps and ways to keep a person’s body healthy and clean.  They say cleanliness is next to Godliness.  When a person is clean and conscious of his body, he can prevent himself from getting sick easily.  He can avoid the development and growth of infections, bacteria and foul odors all over his body. He is the only one responsible for his own self. Keeping one’s body clean and healthy makes life even more comfortable. Proper hygiene also affects your wellness, your relationship with the people around you, your self-confidence, self-esteem and your productivity.  Nobody wants to go near a person who smells bad.  And if that is the case, you will lose confidence, and you will feel insecure, so you will no longer be productive as a person. In order to avoid these things to happen, it is but necessary for you to be conscious with your personal care and cleanliness.

There are many ways to care for your body and develop a good personal hygiene. Let me start with dental hygiene. Your teeth are very important.  You need to brush your teeth at least three times a day or every after meal. It is also necessary to use dental floss to take away dirt’s in between your teeth. Eating too much sweet is also discouraged because it causes rotten teeth.  Avoid smoking or chewing tobacco because it can damage or stain your teeth and can cause bad breath and can even cause lung cancer.  If ever you feel any problem in your teeth such as aching teeth or gum problem, consult a dentist right away in order not to make things worse. Also, you are advised to go to a dentist at least twice a year for teeth cleaning.  Taking good care of your teeth and mouth enables you to have a fresh and pleasant breath and develop lesser cavities.

Another is hand and body hygiene.  Taking a bath everyday is not only necessary but a must.  You do not want to have a bad body odor.  Taking a bath, specifically, in the morning is a proper way of cleaning your body.  You want to stay fresh and look clean at all times. Taking a bath or taking a shower means washing your body using soap and washing your hair using a shampoo.  How often you take a bath or shower depends primarily on your daily activities.  If you perform activities that make you dirty and sweaty, you are required to take a bath more often, in comparison to a person who does not do such activities. Aside from taking a bath, you are also advised to wash your hands most especially before eating. Person touches objects using the hands.  Germs are everywhere.  And if this is the case, your hands are prone to these bacteria and germs.  Therefore, you have to wash your hands before taking a food into your mouth so as to avoid the spread of these germs.  It is also necessary for you to wash your hands after using the toilet or after touching anything that needs you to wash your hands.

Proper hygiene does not only mean brushing of teeth, washing your hands and body or taking a bath.  It also means taking enough rest and sleep.  Getting plenty of exercise such as walking, jogging, playing, riding a bike or any form of exercise that suits your desire. Another is eating healthy and nutritious foods such as glow, grow, and go foods. It is also important for you not to skip a meal.  You have to eat at least three times a day.

Following proper hygiene does not only make you feel healthy and comfortable. It does not only make you help yourself, but it also makes you help others.  It   enables you to help maintain a good and clean environment. By making yourself clean, you are avoiding the spread of germs to other people, thus, lessening sickness, which may possibly occur.  It also builds confidence in you and takes you away from the embarrassment of having bad smell or body odor. You are therefore, assured of projecting a good image to the people around you, and you can set a good example to everyone.
